A Solutions-Based Approach to Climate Change
Climate change isn’t a far-off threat—it’s a challenge this generation is already inheriting.
But understanding it doesn’t have to mean feeling helpless.
At Samsø Labs, we believe climate education should do more than raise awareness. It should spark creativity, build confidence, and empower students to lead change—right now, right where they are.
Whether you're into science, engineering, storytelling, business, or art—you have a role to play in building climate solutions.
That’s why our programs don’t dwell on what’s broken. They focus on what’s possible.
Through hands-on learning, real-world examples, and interdisciplinary exploration, students shift from awareness to action—reimagining the systems that shape our world and designing a more sustainable future for everyone.
Our four free, flexible solution-based programs are designed to meet students, educators, and communities where they are. From teaching younger learners and prototyping bold ideas to creating climate art or exploring green career paths—there’s a path for every passion.
Each program is grounded in climate science and systems thinking, and built around a core belief:
Students have the power to lead change.
These aren’t just educational offerings. They’re launchpads for action, creativity, and youth-led climate leadership.
Pick one. Mix and match. Make it your own.

Program 1:
Climate Curriculum
A Fresh, Solutions-Based Climate Course
Format: Ready-to-use curriculum for classrooms, clubs, or workshops
This isn’t just about the problem—it’s about what we can do.
Our course gives students a hopeful, action-oriented approach to climate change. Through hands-on learning, they explore real solutions, assess their impact, and discover where they fit in.
We’ve built this curriculum using some of the best open-source educational resources available—including the MIT Climate Portal, Stanford’s K–12 Climate Outreach Program, and the OER Climate Project.
All content can be adapted for younger learners and aligned with Samsø Labs’ philosophy: turning knowledge into leadership.
Perfect for: Classrooms · Green Teams · Afterschool programs · Community groups
✔️ Interactive activities, experiments, and case studies
✔️ Flexible format (full course or bite-sized lessons)
✔️ Digital literacy, data exploration and critical thinking
✔️ Project-based, action-oriented learning
Program 2:
Climate Innovation Lab
Turning Creativity into Climate Solutions
Format: Project-based workshops and design challenges.
This hands-on lab brings together design thinking, sustainability, and engineering to help students tackle real climate problems with bold, creative solutions.
Perfect for: Classrooms · Clubs · Makerspaces · Libraries · Community workshops
✔️ Investigate how products are made and where they go
✔️ Build practical solutions using design thinking
✔️ Prototype, test, and refine real ideas

Program 3:
Climate Arts (In Development)
Bringing Climate Education to Life Through Art
Format: Mobile pop-up exhibit + plug-and-play arts curriculum
Climate solutions shouldn’t stay in textbooks.
This program brings them to life through art, storytelling, and creative design—inspiring young people to engage deeply, then express what they’ve learned in their own voices.
The mobile exhibit features real-world climate solutions in energy, food, and waste. The curriculum helps students create their own climate art shows, displays, or performances—using visual storytelling to shift hearts, minds, and systems.
Perfect for: Libraries · School cafeterias · Lobbies · Courtyards · Community centers
✔️ Real-world examples of climate solutions in energy, food, and waste
✔️ Visual storytelling that’s engaging for all ages
✔️ Sparks curiosity, conversation, and community action
"We have to go out and look for the hope we need to inspire us to act -- and that hope begins with a conversation, today...." - Katharine Hayhoe, Climate Scientist.
